LASERDISK PIONEER CLD-1200

This is very strange machine, designed to play 30 cm video disks. Using similar data format as CD but for early pre-dvd video. It has HUGE mechanism capable of spinning large disks, with approx. 30 times the torque of standard CD. These mechanisms were used by legendary Theta transports for CD. Just awesome.

It has poor and simple audio section but after lampization the sound had terrific drive, slam, rythm and bass. I loved it really.
The DAC chip was I believe Burr Brown PCM58.
On the pictures the lampizator is external test unit, not yet implemented.
The moment, when the entire front panel drops down and the gigantic drawer slides out is breathtaking. It is like Lord Wader coming out of his ship on a lowered down platform.
