Lampizator's
Roadmap 2009
No v 092009
The Lampization
of various DACs and CD players is inevitably coming to an end
I embarked on
this project to try and compare every existing DAC chip and choose
which are worth the effort and which are not.
The mission is
more or less accomplished.
I will close the CD chapter and rest my case. There
will be not much more I can learn from these experiments. I will leave
it to the others to work further and find better caps, better tubes,
silver cables, better operating points - PERFECTIONISM is what I leave
to the followers. I will concentrate on creativity, not perfectionism.
Next is THE second round of ANNUAL
CAPACITOR SHOOTOUT
- with hard testing, A/B-ing, comparative subjective evaluation etc of
over 40 different caps.
With the time on
my hands I will examine further the speakers, because what I have is
far from perfection. I hope to make speaker without compromise that
anyone can copy, and do it using drivers which are widely
available. These speakers will be based on Visaton B200 midbass,
Selenium or Tesla ARA bass and some unknown yet tweeter.
I will also finish a solid state amp project - with TRIPATH
chip in tri-amping mode.
I will do a cable project - speaker and IC - the Super Kynar job
and I will introduce to you the beauty of cables made of .... tin.
Finally - I will publish my almost finished BIG project with
iMAC
and Squeezebox and big
HDD D-LINK323 RAID as a music
bank = with Wifi LAN signal distribution, lampized Behringer , CD
cover graphic bank, internet radio, direct broadcast
digital radio, etc etc. all in one system.
I want to put 10 000 CDs on HDD and enjoy the quality as from the best
CD system possible today.
In the pipeline is also: Behringer digital room correction ULTRACURVE
Second attempt on Rockna DAC with AD1865
Universal tube based power supply for tube circuits
Testing of various Polish superclocks
Marantz 73 and 74 lampized and NOS-ed
4 x TDA 1541 DAC from China lampized
2010 will be the year of the production of the first commercial product
from me - the Lampizator Music Center combining the Squeezebox
transport, Behringer as upsampler, Buffalo DAC, D-Link Raid Server,
Linksys WiFi router and of course Lampizator - all in one
box.
The project even has a name: Project Asioka, co commemorate one of the
greatest kings who ever lived, the first one to adopt non violence,
religious tolerance, buddhism, protection of animals, setting up
national parks and nature conservation plan - and he did it all - over
1500 years ago in India. Thats when Poles were still living up on the
trees, as did most of our neighbors. I thought that Asioka is a guy who
deserves a few lines here.
