This was the first real hi-fi system I had back in early 90's. From the
top: Pioneer's fantastic tuner
Aiwa 810 3-head cassette deck, TEAC Esoteric X-1 top of the line hi-end
CDP.
Audio Note DAC-2 (later sold) and to the right - Audio Note SORO
push-pull
integrated tube amp.
It sounded quite good even if not everybody liked the "hydraulic"
rack.
;-)
"Plombier Polonais"
Some major upgrade: the Soro was replaced by VTL 160 Compact monos with
Audio Note M-2 silver preamp.
Muuuch more powerful and transparent set-up. The long and painful
tweaking
program under guidance of Luke Manley helped a lot:
I made P-P to Triode conversion, tube upgrade from GE to Sovtek, driver
and
phase
splitter
upgrade from 12BH to 6350, cap upgrade
from
Wima to MusiCaps, etc. Absolutely fantastic result. A new
class
of amplifier was born.
The first real speakers - Project Zero (after selling Infinity
monstrous
140's): DIY transmission lines: B139B from KEF,
SEAS midrange (14 cm black poly) (very very nice) and Dynaudio D28/2.
2,4
m. T-line with back cavity.
External XO visible on the floor. Midnight II speaker cables. VdH First
IC's. Pretensions to High End sound !!!
